Crawford County A.B.A.T.E.

Crawford County Chapter of ABATE of Illinois monthly meeting was held August 11 at the Lawrenceville Elks.  We had 25 members in attendance and got 2 new members.  Next meeting is September 8 at the Floyds in Oblong.  

Flat Rock Bike Show was a success as always.  Thank You to Ron and Brenda Maxwell for helping us out and taking care of things.  I don’t know how many bikes were actually there but 29 signed in.   We gave cash prizes in 9 categories, Best of Show: Mark Petrusek, Touring: Doug Bonnell, Custom: Dan Swaner, Harley Big Bike: Wesley Windham, All Other Small Bike: Justin Courtney, Antique: Larry Osborn, Off Road: Rick Wesner, Sportster: Vince Decker, All Other Big Bikes: Kyle Conrad.  

2009 Illinois Gathering of the Guard at Leaverton Park in Palestine August 21-23.  :  www.geocities.com/ilpgr  Check updates at this website.  Our chapter (Mike Beard) will be providing donuts while the Palestine Eagles Auxiliary will provide coffee and juice at 9am on Sunday the 23rd.  We will also be selling ice throughout the weekend.  Volunteers to help serve will be appreciated.   The Memorial Ride starts at 9am on Saturday morning the 22nd, starting at the Jacob Tracy Memorial Stone.

Just a reminder that nominations for officers will take place at the October meeting.  Be thinking if you would like to take an office.  We will need a new secretary for next year.

We have received a gift from Legacy Harley Davidson of Effingham that we will be using as a door prize at one of the upcoming bike shows.   We would like to get a couple more items if anyone has contacts at any other bike shops, etc.  I would really like to get a wash kit or a tool kit that could be used for bike or car – if anyone out there can get me one for a door prize I would appreciate it.
