Happy Valentines Day! We had a great turnout for our February 10 meeting at Floyds. We had 32 members in attendance, a couple of new (old) members and some visitors from Jasper County ABATE. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm and they are moved from place to place to accommodate our members who live in Robinson, Oblong, Lawrenceville, Olney, etc.
There have been some changes made to the 2009 calendar already so revised calendars will be going out. Jeff had the website updated, sorry Jeff.
We had several attend the ABATE of Illinois seminar in Springfield in January and want to thank them for taking time from their busy schedules to go. Warren Salesman, Robert and Debbie Sturm, Kevin and Cindy Tracy and Holly Haddix spent the day in classes learning the ins and outs of ABATE. Scott and I were not able to attend at the last minute due to a death in the family.
We have been told that we are more than welcome to join in the festivities of the Wine and Arts Festival in Palestine. We will be moving our bike show to Palestine for Saturday, October 3. More details later. Also, Palestine has expressed an interest in us doing some sort of field events during the Betsy Reed Festival the first weekend in June. They also do casket races if we are interested in building one to race.
Big news is the Patriot Guard will be having their Illinois State Gathering at Leaverton Park in Palestine August 21-23. Doug Kirk is on a committee to help with this and they may need some help from us to get a memorial ride together, etc. There will be bands, one of which is Matt Poss and Rolling Thunder. This is HUGE folks and we need to help however we can. Check out the Patriot Guard Riders website if you don’t know what they do. Some of us had the honor of riding with them when they brought PFC Jacob Tracy home. It is quite an experience.

The next meeting will be March 10, 2009 at the Eagles in Palestine.
