Crawford County A.B.A.T.E.
Crawford County Chapter of ABATE of Illinois monthly meeting was held July 14 at the Saratoga. We had 28 members in attendance and got 3 new members. Next meeting is August 11 at the Elks in Lawrenceville. I have heard that the restaurant downstairs at the Elks has really good food and they are open to the public so you may want to go early.
2009 Illinois Gathering of the Guard at Leaverton Park in Palestine August 21-23. http://www.ilpatriotguard.com/gathering.html Check updates at this website. Our chapter will be providing donuts, juice, coffee and fruit for Sunday morning the 23rd. 150 are registered so far and they are expecting around 200. Volunteers to help will be appreciated. The Memorial Ride starts at 9am on Saturday morning the 22nd, starting at the Jacob Tracy Memorial Stone.
We have the bike shows coming up. There’s nothing like seeing a line of clean, shiny bikes lined up at a bike show. Everyone is busy, has family stuff going on, just don’t want to get involved, whatever. The same 5 or 6 people are the ones that always volunteer to help. We had a lot of discussion about the bike shows and most of us would like to have them be “real” bike shows, however, no one wants to organize them so we will just do the best we can and no one will complain.
