Eight motorcycles hit in weekend accidents
SULLIVAN -- The Moultrie County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating two related accidents Saturday in which eight motorcycles went down and several of the riders were injured.
Sheriff Jeff Thomas said the two accidents involving the group of motorcyclists occurred at approximately 6 p.m. Saturday on the Bruce-Findlay road a quarter mile east of Bruce.
Thomas said six drivers laid down their motorcycles to avoid colliding with debris in the roadway or with each other. He said a motorcyclist farther ahead attempted to turn around to help the others in the group and was hit by a fellow motorcyclist.
Five motorcyclists were taken by ambulance for treatment of injuries and others involved in the accidents may have sought treatment later on their own, Thomas said.
The two motorcycles that collided were driven by Jerry Cunningham Jr. of Decatur and Douglas W. Haren of Findlay, Thomas said. They were not among the motorcyclists that needed ambulance care, the sheriff said.
Thomas said the department is still gathering names and insurance information for the other motorcyclists involved in the accident as it continues to investigate this matter.

This was the accident at Hog Rock that involved one of our members:
